DOTA 2 PORTAL Heroes Section Being Updated!

Hey guys, been working closely with Avalon on completely re-vamping the "heroes" section of the website. We got somewhat of a general idea of what it is going to look like up and we are updating it daily (consider it to be in its 'beta' stage currently).

Please go and check it out and either leave some feedback of what you like/dislike and maybe even some cool ideas of what you think we should do to better improve it.

What's to come:

Every hero you hover over with your mouse will be updated on the right column with some in depth info on that hero (so you can check out the hero without having to click and load up an entirely new page to just get some basic info) *currently only the Strengths and some Agility heroes are enabled to do this as it is just to show you guys what we are doing, they are not the final product images*
COMPLETELY re-vamping info page when clicking on hero. A few are already updated, I.E. Earthshaker, Bloodseeker, Lich, and a few others.

What you should do:

Tell us whether you LOVE it or HATE it (the direction we are heading in)
Tell us WHAT you love about it or hate about it
Give us feedback on what we can do to make it better (interesting and creative ideas will be greatly considered and appreciated)

EDIT: People don't seem to understand that the previous images were just a placeholder. The page is now updated again with the new images. Not EVERY picture has it yet as it is being updated on a regular basis. Please re-check out the page with the updated sidebar images

I love it! Very nice and practical Smile

but I do wander, what are those numbers next to the heros, is it when they were introduced to DotA from first being 1 and last being 105 (when you get them all) or just a way to categorize them. . . .?

We will explain somewhere on the page what the numbers mean, Probably on the right side when we update the images. Apparently it is their popularity. i.e. #2 is Drow as in she is a very popular character to play whereas other characters up in the #80's aren't as popular. Razz

My suggestion would be that we should split up the roles a bit. Like carries should have semi carries section. Cause people will think that tinker and storm is a hard carry. + can we add heroes in more than one section?
People should know what a hero is capable of doing. Either pushing or supporting.

Either ways you are on a good way Very Happy

Appreciate the input, actually heard close to the same suggestion from another member. We will look into it as exactly what a hero is specified as entirely depends on a bunch of different factors. We have the current setup taken directly from Dota 2 as on the hero select screen, you can sort by the specified categories. I too agree that heroes have multiple roles etc. And we will look into it. Not to mention, Valve is probably going to update it accordingly, I'm sure they probably threw those categories together with the heroes in them without tooooo much thought, maybe asked a few pros what they think it should be etc.

Appreciate the kind words and suggestion! We will definately look into doing something about this. And to answer your question, yes, we can put multiple heroes in different sections. We will look further into this, just mirrored how Valve has it to just get it up and running and will fine-tune it down the line whether we have a survey or Valve updates the heroes roles or something. really good but I suggest you change the icon of the heroes to the Dota2 ones. It should be a fast edit with either photoshop, gimp or even MS paint.

Yea, i m currently redesigning those stats on right. Present ones are just here for test Smile

Why is it when I hover dota 1 stats I see this is dota 2 not 1 but 2
