|D2P Project - Dota 2 School & Mentors|
There are millions of Dota 2 players from all corners of the world. Words have been spreading, battles have been expanding and thousands of new players are coming every day to try themselves out and join the rising community. However, Dota 2 is among the hardest games to master and its learning curve can be a discouraging factor for a lot of new comers. But not anymore guys and girls, not anymore. Dota 2 Portal has recognized this problem a few months ago and did its best to help you out.
What is Dota 2 School?
We have brainstormed a few ideas and agreed that the best option would be to open a Dota 2 School Steam group for everyone who wants to play and learn in the friendly atmosphere with D2P mentors and moderators. However, after these few months of our work, we have to admit that the original idea is yet to be achieved. We are talking about the regular advanced tutorials and streams for every single aspect of the game. For that, we still need some time and feedback to come to the top level. Till then, you will have tons of FFA (Free For All) lobbies every day hosted by our awesome mentors where you can play whatever you can in any way you can and you won't be flamed. "Try" us out and see it for yourself! - http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Dota2School#
One on one lessons?
For those of you who prefer one on one lessons, we have something for you! Check out our mentors list ("Game Tutorials" - "Need a Mentor?") and contact them once you pick your preferred role and region. Make sure to send us feedback at any time in case you have some ideas we could implement or in case you would like to see something changed. Make sure to have tons of fun while learning cause, well, …

Not My Best Work!
"Whenever we make a significant mistake, we spend a bunch of time looking at what happened, why it happened, and how we can fix it. Most of the time we do this privately, but in our recent mistake around Diretide, we felt sharing our analysis with you made sense.
First, what happened – we didn’t ship a Diretide event this year, and you were rightly upset about it. That was clearly a mistake, and then we compounded the problem by not telling you what was going on.
So, why didn’t we ship Diretide?
> We have a huge update in the works that looked like it would be finished in time for Halloween. Stopping that update to work on Diretide seemed like something you would actually be unhappy with us for, because the update is pretty significant. More on that later.
> Turning on last year’s Diretide event wasn’t trivial. We’d done a year of work on the game which had changed our codebase, UI, and other systems enough that we would need to do some work to resurrect it.
> We underestimated how much you wanted Diretide.
> We made the decision a while ago, and failed to employ our usual process of regularly asking ourselves whether we were still on the right track. There were a bunch of people on the Dota 2 team who poked at the decision to not do it as Halloween approached, but due to how busy everyone was with our next major update, no-one really took the time to step back and objectively realise we were being collectively crazy.
Due to our poor prediction of your reaction, and the team being focused on the next update, we didn’t spend enough time thinking about talking to you about our decision. As a result, by the time we’d realized we’d made a bad decision, …

|N-Gage.tv League Open Beta Now Live!|
A lot of requests had been made from the Dota 2 Community, that we need something different then the frustrating Valve MM, that we need something like what dota-league was in the old days back in Dota 1. Pushed by this wish we spent nights and days to create such a system which can be accepted by the community. But we were not just creating this on our own, no, we collected opinions through our closed beta events: We made 3 closed beta-events overall: 1 was official, where everybody could sign in, with 60 people participating, 2 were unofficial with 20 people each.
Through your support and effort we could create something which will revolutionize the Dota 2 Matchmaking as we know it today. Now - when we finally launch the open beta - our work is still not finished, it is still possible that bugs you can encounter bugs. So please, when you find any bugs, don't hesitate to contact us through our forums or directly through skype.
We wanted to build up a community not just with high quality games, but also with a mannered atmosphere and - what's probably the most important point - a competitive mindset. We aligned the complete league-system in that direction and now we want to present to you the next level of Dota 2 Matchmaking:
We have 6 leagues (Qualifying(ap), Bronze(+rd, sd, ar), Silver(+cm), Gold, Platinum, Diamond) for matchmaking, each of them has 5 sub-leagues (except Qualifying and Diamond), to provide balanced games. You can queue single or dual with a friend, stacking is not possible. Your Dotabuff-Rating determines on which league you start, but don't worry, even if you start in the …
